Bloggeritas! When is the last time you bought some clothing item or accessory for yourself? It's been quite a while for me. Between saving for a new house, gas, daycare, regular bills and CRAFTING...I just don't have the funds to shop for clothes like I would like to. BUT...this is also forcing me to be creative and mix and match what I already have. Sooooo....I thought about the same concept for the Runway Inspired Challenge this week. I have some new, never opened stamps but, I thought...hey, let me use the stamps that I've had for a while that don't get used much. So, I used this Wilson Designs Stamp set that is FABBY! I'm Deleting Them...

Hey Bloggeritas! Today, I'm not posting a new card. While I was looking at my blog I realized that I have to delete two of my posts. I'm not deleting them because they aren't well written. I'm deleting them because the cards are AWFUL! No, seriously. Ever since I posted them, I would look at them over and again to try and convince myself they were okay.

I was forcing myself to make those cards and that's what they ended up looking like...forced. This is why I have to remind myself to enjoy crafting. I'm not going to EVER AGAIN craft under compulsion. I had to make those cards because someone placed a custom card order and I called myself making them to "fit" the challenges I wanted to play in this week BUT...to no avail. It did NOT work out that way.

So, by the time you read this...the janky looking cards will be gone. And all will be well. LOL!

Love is not instant...

Hi Bloggeritas! In our instant, right now, on demand, gotta have it now society we are so busy that we over look things at times...ney...a LOT of the time. Folks are so preoccupied with planning a dream wedding that they don't focus on having a dream marriage! People are so worried about being fashion forward that they never pay kindness forward. It's crazy. It's too much.

I'm not a religious person but, there is good in almost every religious text there is and one Bible verse stuck in my head when I got ready to make this card...1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ⁵ It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ⁶ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Even if that were not from a religious text, it is a beautiful way to clearly articulate just what love is and isn't.

Love isn't instant (although there can be love at first sight), it isn't microwavable and it certainly can be bought, sold or stolen. I think if we just remember that...a lot of our societal ills will be remedied.

I'm playing along with CAS-ual Fridays this week. It's a movie inspired challenge. So, I decided to go with one of my fave movies of all time The Color Purple. More specifically, my favorite character in the movie Shug Avery. She was a singer and knew how to put on the glitz for her performances! The movie is actually an adaptation of the book The Color Purple written by Alice Walker one of my favorite authors. So, check the card!

Potty Chart

Hey Bloggeritas! Thanks for stopping by Two Tears in my Bucket today! Today, my Potty Chart is featured on the My Momenta blog. Stop on over there and let them know how you feel about it but, let me know how you feel about it here too!

My son, Picard, is 2 and we're trying to potty train him. I created this chart to prompt him to "want" to potty. If he goes number one, he gets one potty point. If he goes number two, he gets two potty points. When he gets 10 tickets, he gets a small toy. 100 tickets, he gets a BIG toy!

I used:

Foam core board (select the size that fits your space best) Mine is 16"x20"
Craft sticks (I got mine from the local craft supply store)
Momenta Family Outings Cardstock 12"x12" pad
Momenta Vibrant Cardstock 5"x7" pad
Good adhesive
Number Dies
Tickets (Or circles or stars...something to represent the potty points)

I have seven lines here for seven days of the week. Each week, we count all the points and start over. I use repositionable adhesive to adhere the potty points (which are tickets since this chart is more of a circus theme).

The tissue roll is a Unity Stamp co. stamp. The ticket is just a plain old raffle ticket. I have a roll of raffle ticket from some other project that I did.

I fussy cut a lion, tiger, bear, tickets and a big top hat from a cardstock sheet in the Family Outings 12"x12" paper pad. The banners are made from paper from the 5"x7" One Fine Day Cardstock Mat paper pad.

I hopt this chart brings you and your little one potty success!

Drunken Stampers Challenge #82 - Something NEW

Hey there! Today is Drunken Stampers challenge day! Woot! Woot! Do you have some new "stuff" in your stash just sitting there waiting to be used? Well, I know I do. Stamps that have never even been opened! What a waste! What am I waiting on? The challenge over at the Drunken Stampers is to use something new from your stash on your project. Isn't that a terrific idea? I had this gumball stamp and sentiement that I've never used and new adhesive and some fresh cardstock that I have never used so...here goes!

Hey Bloggeritas! I'm consumed with publication calls right now. Literally. I mean, it's hard to create for design teams, challenges that are fun and pub calls too. I try to think outside the box so that my cards get noticed and often times I feel like the box has collapsed on top of me! In the grand scheme of things, getting published is not the most important thing. I mean, I am a mama, a wife, a student and an employee so, I have other goals, responsibilities and dreams. But, it's just a goal that has been gnawing at my crafty mind.

So I said all that to say that this card is a product of my stressed mind, at 11:00pm, sitting at my craft desk, after working 8 hours, driving through traffic, cooking for my family, bathing and putting my son to sleep, doing some homework and STRESSING (albeit unnecessarily) over getting published. This one is for the Play Date Cafe!

Sigh...don't judge me...too hard!

Hey there Bloggeritas! In my opinion, clean and simple cards are the hardest to make. Often times, my ideas are too elaborate and I find myself trying to simplify them so that I can make a true CAS card. To me, they are the most beautiful cards. I don't profess to be good at making CAS cards but, I'm inspired and motivated by them. That's why I'm excited about this week's Cas-ual Fridays challenge. The only colors you can use on your creation are black and white. Does that not FORCE you to create a wonderfully simple CAS card? Well...I think this THE MOST simple card that I've ever made. I'm so in love with is though.

But, I'm sitting in my craft nook and Picard is watching one of the Christmas Dora the Explorer specials. We only allow him to watch TV on the weekend so, he watches as much Dora as he can stand! LOL! Since he's two and this is his first year actually understand who Santa is...he wants to see him on the Dora specials all the time. Eh...who am I to tell him no? :) He's my first and only baby so...if he wants Christmas in January...so shall it be! :)

What's up Bloggeritas? Have you ever die cut vellum? Well, I had not ever done that before. So, tonight, I used a PTI die and die cut some vellum. Then, I dabbed some ink on a napkin and stained it purple. I've shared before that I'm a cheap crafter but, I'm also a lazy one! LOL! Therefore, I improvise a lot. I had a napkin handy...why pull out my sponge dauber? So, anyway...this card is for the CAS-ual Fridays scallop challenge this week. Check it!

New Year, New Life, New Blog!

Hello my Lovely Bloggeritas! In the midst of all the end of the year lists and the New Years resolutions out there in blog land, I thought, eh...no one would read mine if I post it now. But NOW...now that we're well into the new year and no one is expecting it...BAM! I'm gonna hit you with my little craft related list...yes, I have categorized lists! :)

Crafty "To-dos" in 2012:

1. Re-do my blog.
I've been a big fan of Karen Bakers designs for a long while. I still blog stalk her over at The Bald Dragonfly daily! When I realized that she also designs blogs I was like "woah"...gotta get on that band wagon. So, when I got a chance I contacted her and she transformed my blog into the awesomeness that you see today! :) I HIGHLY recommend that you reach out to her if you're considering revamping your blog. She is very easy to work with and she "gets you" right away!

2. Get published.
Seriously. I don't know why but, I just draw a blank during publication calls. It's so frustrating because it's a goal of mine that I just haven't attained. I'm going to try my best to make it happen because it's something that I feel will affirm why I'm doing this.

3. Make more crafty friends.
I find it intimidating to reach out to crafty ladies. I've got to try more.

4. Be more innovative and creative.
Often times I don't try new things because of how I think I'll be perceived. ENOUGH of that! I'm going all out!

5. Get over my sewing phobia.
Why do I hate the sewing machine so much? I just hate to have projects that I think look bad. Since I'm such a sewing novice I know it'll look bad...until I learn that is.

So that's it. I plan on accomplishing all five things! Do you have a crafty "to-do" list?

Drunken Stampers Challenge #81 - LOVE!

Hola Bloggeritas! I'm so glad to see you back here at Two Tears in my Bucket. I hope you're getting into your new 2012 routine okay. I'm so grateful to see this year and enjoy it with my family. I must admit that my second favorite holiday (after Christmas) is Valentine's day. I'm not talking about the commercial, syrup sweet aspects of the holiday. I'm talking about the essence of just loving and being loved. My heart still flutters when my husband speaks my name...and that's what I celebrate on Valentine's day. Hey there Bloggeritas! It's been one big craft-a-palooza for me today. We've been lazing around the house relaxing and what better way to relax than to craft it out! I made a recycle card because I needed to use some chipboard for my CAS-ual Fridays challenge entry this week and I came across a chipboard heart in my stash that said "green hearted". It's part of these chipboard stickers I bought from Big Lots about six or seven months ago. They were $0.25. Can you believe that? Yeah, I couldn't either! Big Lots has a lot of paper crafting supplies for the lowsky wowsky (for cheap...LOL!). So, anyway, I thought that heart would fit perfectly with the "It Takes Love" stamp I bought from Market Street Stamps. Then I said, what if I could find a heart recycle cut in the Silhouette store...and I DID! And THAT'S why I'm linking this up with the Moxie Fab World die cuts challenge. So, this card was meant to be! Check it out!

Hey Bloggeritas! It's a gloomy yet relaxing day here in Atlanta. I don't want to go to work tomorrow...I just want to stay home and craft! Is that wrong? LOL! I'm grateful for my job...I'm just sayin'. I want to share a card with you that I made for the CASE Study challenge. I tried to soften the card by using a lot of pastels and muted primary colors. Only because some may be offended by the sentiment (tee hee). It's a Unity Stamp Co. stamp and I'm quite proud of it! I used my Silhouette SD to make the negative cloud cuts and to cut the balloons as well. Gotta love that machine! So, I'm linking this up to the Moxie Fab die cutting challenge. Check it out!

Good morning Bloggeritas and welcome to Two Tears in my Bucket! I'm glad that you stopped by. You should have arrived here from:Rae Ann's sweet little blog! If you just stumbled upon this blog and need to start from the beginning please go to the DeNami blog. We are well on our way to celebrating Valentines Day! My husband always does a great job of sweeping me off my feet. I know you're probably new to my blog but, I don't show off my altered items too often. I have low altered item esteem (dramatic I know...lol!). BUT...I thought it would be nice to alter these wooden samples I received from my job. I work for an architecture firm and they just toss this stuff out when they're done...do you believe that?

So, I decoupaged some paper from the "Lost&Found" collection from My Mind's Eye on to the front of the wooden block. See that Eiffel Tower? Nothing says love like Paris! Then, I punched some clouds out of some paper from the same pack with my Lil' Inker cloud dies. Finally, I paper pieced the cherub and blinged out his wings. The rest is glue gun history!

For Your Inspiration Challenge #21

Hey there Bloggeritas! Welcome to my humble blog abode, Casa de Two Tears in my Bucket! :) It's time to play along at the For Your Inspiration challenge blog. This is one of the most challenging challenges out there! When I see the inspiration photos, my mind runs away and my imagination starts to work over time. So, I have trouble harnessing just one idea. But, on this one, the "it" idea came fairly easy. The shapes in the ceiling and the flowers in the photo immediately moved me! Plus we're sponsored by The Wax Fruit Company so, that made it more fun to try out my ideas.

I used the Friendship Seed Packet from the Wax Fruit Company on my card. I used my Silhouette SD to cut out an actual seed packet. After I colored and distressed the image, I pasted in on to the seed packet front. I used some flowers I had in my stash to stuff the seed packet. I'm in love with this image!

It's just THAT heavy weight! The Poptone Cardstock cuts beautuifully with any diecut machine and die, even the wafter thin steel rule dies from My Favorite Things or Spellbinders. It has matching dye inks, and matching wool felt.

Inks:
The Poptone Dye Ink from Stamp School is a raised dye ink pad. The inks are made to match the Poptone Cardstock. The ink pad comes with a hinged lid, so you won't ever lose your lid and is labeled with the ink color. It works beautifully on our clear stamps, and because it is a dye ink you can do any technique fit for dye inks. We also have re-inkers available.

Felt:
Soft to the touch yet sturdy, Stamp School felt is a medium-weight 100% merino wool, imported from Holland. Be forewarned, once you craft with it you'll have a hard time ever going back to a blend or acrylic. Approximately 14oz. per linear yard (36x72 inches) and 1mm thick, almost 1/16 inch. Art Room Challenge 12-19-11

Let me tell you...when I got the news I was ecstatic! When I saw the product...I was even more ecstatic! WOWZERS! You all are going to be IM-PRESS-ED!

The big REVEAL that features all of the wonderful new products won't be until after the New Year so....in the mean while, they're giving us something fun to do! It's the Art Room Challenge! Rub-a-dub-dub...SUGAR SCRUB!!!

I have always wanted to make my own bath and body products but, it's hard when you don't have a teacher and you just follow a recipe (which I HATE). So, my good friend gifted me some AWESOME body oils. She told me that it was sunflower oil and essential oils. I was like whaaaaat? Because they felt and smelled SO GOOD! So, while perusing for gifts to give my "secret DIVA" (my college friends and I are the DIVAS...don't judge us...LOL!) I found a recipe for Brown sugar scrub. It called for brown sugar, essential oils and sunflower oil. Again...I was like whaaaat? It's so easy! So, I used some of my gifted oil and added the brown sugar in a small mason jar. Then, I said...I have to dress this up. So, I cut a circle....more like an oval out of some quilt backing I had. Don't as why I have quilt backing...I don't know...I just do! THEN...I stamped the medallion from Skipping Stones Design's "Victorian Summer" stamps set in the middle (or there abouts) and that's how I ended up with this....

Isn't that little tag darling? It's a stamp I got and never hardly used from Hobby Lobby.

Hey Bloggeritas! Are you getting some last minute shopping in before next weekend? If so, I pity you. I know those crowds are ravenous and vicious right about now. For a holiday that's supposed to be about joy and good will toward man...we sure do get "ugly" when it comes to our "stuff"! Luckily, we're only buying for my son and since he's two, he's getting three gifts. I'm LOVING that. At the end of the day he's an only child AND the baby grandchild so, he's spoiled and he certainly doesn't need more things for mommy and daddy to trip over! :)

I want to share a card with you that I made for the Play Date Cafe Challenge as well as the CAS-ual Fridays challenge.

Okay, here is the card WITH the envelope. I'm really bad about posting my supplies but, this card and envelope were so easy to make. Used my Silhouette SD to cut the snow flake. The snowflakes on the envelope are unity stamps. I used PTI Hawaiian Shores and Spring Rain to stamp those.

I'm getting ready to show you all a photo that is so beautiful and affirms that fact (at least for me) that there is a higher power....

Let me tell you, I love being a Lovely Lotus at the For Your Inspiration challenge but, this one gave me a run for my money! I kept feeling like there was NOTHING I could make that would do the inspiration photo justice. Today is my mama's birthday and so, I used her for inspiration and here is what I came up with!

Well Bloggeritas...I've been going through withdrawals because I haven't played along with the Play Date Cafe in a little while! This week's colors got my mojo working again. I decided to make a little scene (pun intended) with my Paper Smooches stamps. Yes, I'm still crushing on Paper Smooches. Anywho...I added a little glimmer mist in the "sky" on this card to do something different and then I looked to see what the CAS-ual Friday's challenge was and it was to use mist on your project! Talk about kismet! Soooo...here is my project. In my opinion it's the best thing I've EVER colored! I'm feeling like my card is the BOMB.COM! :0) Check it!

DeNami Gift Wrapping Blog Hop

Good morning Bloggeritas and welcome to Two Tears in my Bucket! I'm glad that you stopped by. You should have arrived here from: KIMBERLY'S BLOG It's so much fun figuring out new ways to present gifts to people during the holidays. I'm using some small gift boxes that I made with my Silhouette SD to share my gifts with my secret DIVA (my girlfriends and I call each other the DIVAS...diva in a good way). I thought a sleeve would work well with this box. So, I made a pine cone wreath with my DeNami Design Holiday PetitFour. I'm wreath crazy this year!

Isn't this box charming? I just love it!

Hey there bloggeritas! Thank you for stopping by! Isn't Christmas just the most magical time of year? I mean it really brings out the best in most people and leaves you feeling warm, generous and loved. Ahhh....Christmas! Today I want to share a card with you that I made for the Drunken Stampers Challenge #\80. The challenge is to create a glittery holiday card!

Here is my creation:

I had the darndest time photographing this card so that you could see the glittery sentiment and the glittery reindeer nose and antlers. The ribbon has a ton of shimmer too. Sorry guys...trust me this card is awesome sauce in person!

10 Things About ME! :)

I was blog stalking today and ran across Classy Girl's post about her birthday. I love "About me" quizzes, lists and surveys. I could do it ALL DAY! How narcisistic is that? Damn you Cosmo Magazine...you've turned me into a frivolous quiz taker for life (started when I was in high school...don't judge)!

So...on to 10 wonderful, fantastic, FA-REAKIN' AH-MAZE-ING things about me! :)

1. My husband and my son, give me balance. They remind me to not take myself too seriously. They each make my life full and beautiful in innumerable ways. I'm so in love with them both.

2. I am in my last year pursuing a Bachelor's of Arts in Educational Studies. HOWEVER, I don't want to teach. You know how teachers have to complete a stint as a student teacher prior to actually becoming a teacher? Well...that time is so valuable because that's when I realized that I can't teach AND be mentally present for my family at the end of the day. Soooo...I'm just going to stay in corporate America and use my degree for a career in training.

3. R&B (including Soul, Neo-Soul, Blue-eyed Soul and Pop R&B), Jazz, Indie Rock, Blues and Folk music rock my world. I sing and write songs. I should say I write lyrics because I don't know a lick of music theory. I love, love, LOVE to sing! Here are a couple of You Tube videos...again no judging!

4. I'm obsessed with becoming an "it" paper crafter. Every once in a while on this very blog, I talk about my desire to become a crafting SUPA STAH and the ca-razy things I end up doing as a result. Check out THIS post. I CHOKE on EVERY Publication call. It's just embarrassing at this point. Sigh...

5. I am in love with my hair. I love my locs. Some people call them dread locs and I don't like that because it sounds negative. I love that I wear my hair free of any perm or chemicals. I have dyed my hair but...with henna of course. I love to see women embrace their natural tresses. I've been growing them for almost 12 years and I get insulted when someone asks me are they real OR if they're braids. *Rolling my eyes and sucking my teeth just writing this.*

6. I have ELEVEN tattoos. Yep, and once I have the money...I'm gonna get MORE! I LURVE body art...tasteful body art.

7. I don't own any perfume. Instead I go to this neat place called Scents and Suds and mix my own custom body oil and lotion. Up yours Bath and Body Works...j/k I do still wear "Twilight Woods" by B & BW.

8. My husband and I are getting ready to purchase our first home. It's nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time. There are sooo many options and there is never going to be a perfect fit but, I'm hoping we find the right space for our family. We're looking in Lithia Springs and Douglasville, GA. I'm ready for a craft space WITH A DOOR!!!

9. I agonize over what craft supplies to buy. I mean...I'm craftin' on a tight budget. Sooo...I have to choose wisely and improvise. When I say agonize...I mean STRESS! It almost takes the fun out of it. Why do I do that??

10. My biggest goals right now are to: Loose 30lbs by my 30th birthday in June, Graduate in October ('12) and have a least one project published in a craft mag in the year 2012.

Well...that's it. 10 randomly delightful things about me! Hope you enjoyed yourself...I know I did! (Tooting that horn SUPER loud!)

Hello Bloggeritas! Welcome back. It's time for another Perfect Sentiments Challenge. This week, the challenge is to create a blingy Christmas card. It's very difficult for me to create holiday cards. I get very intimidated. BUT...my own CAS style saves me because I don't have to do too much to make a nice card. I've seen some beautifully layered cards that make me red and green with envy but, alas...CAS is what I do best so, I'm going to stick to that. Here is my card!

Bloggeritas! How are you? It's a cold and crisp morning here in Atlanta. I'm singing in my friend's wedding today. Rehearsal was good last night. The pianist was very talented and I had no problem working out the arrangement with him. The bride to be was in my wedding and I didn't cry UNTIL I hugged her afterwards. I'll share a photo of that at the bottom of this post. My son and I are getting ready to go shopping for mommy's dress. So...we'll see how that works out! Shopping with a toddler can be a bit interesting. LOL! I made a card this morning. It's for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge! It's a tic, tac, tow kind of deal this week. I went with, "orange", "aqua" and stripes. Check out my creation!

For Your Inspiration Challenge #19 and a BIG Announcement!!

Hey there Bloggeritas! Welcome to Two Tears in my Bucket! It's Thursday and what a wonderful day it is! I have an announcement to make. I am a member of the For Your Inspiration Challenge Blog Design Team! I'm so excited! Today, I get to share my first project as a design team member. Look at this beautiful inspiration photo:

Now, some of you are here for the first time and you're not familiar with my style. I truly enjoy going the opposite of what is expected. Let me explain my creation. I took the subtle yellow hues at the bottom left hand corner of the photo as well as the purple hues above the skyline and below the bridge reflected in the water. Whenever I see a beautifully lit city, I always imagine folks are dancing and being socialites. I don't know why. I call dancing to good music "jamming" and that's the explanation for my inspiration. I used my Paper Smooches Stamps to round out my vision. Check it out!

Drunken Stampers Challenge #79

Welcome Bloggeritas (Blog readers)! I'm in slow motion this morning. After all the cooking and cleaning and hanging out...I'm POOPED! My husband and I were supposed to be having a romantic movie night and I woke up with a long strand of slobber on my cheek! HA! If we hadn't been together so long, I would have been embarrassed. He's darling though. We'll just try again tonight! He picks the best movies. Okay enough about me...you want a card right? Welcome Bloggeritas! How is your week ending up? Don't tell me you got caught up in the Black Friday stuff? Well, by now, you're probably good and tired so, rest and remember Cyber Monday is GREAT alternative! LOL! No, seriously...I can't do the cold and the crowds. Instead, we put up our Christmas tree and I've been crafting. I did shop with Unity Stamp Co. this week. They had a sale that was THEBOMB.COM! I'm going to give Market Street Stamps some love today too...they've got 30% off. So, I'm doing some shopping...just the comfortable, not getting run over by 1,000,000 deal hungry shoppers kind of shopping! I made a card for the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. Check it!

How are you doing Bloggeritas! I woke up this morning to see that my post didn't go live! For some reason...it didn't happen even though I scheduled it waaay in advance! I'm not gonna let that color my day. You know why? Cause it's Perfect Sentiments Challenge Day!!! This week you are to create an encouragement card using the sketch provided. Now, you know me by now...I'm up when I'm supposed to be down, and left when I'm told to go right. THEREFORE...I wanted to do a FUN encouragement card as opposed to a serious one. I digress...I want to share a card with you that I made for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge. It's a sketch challenge this go 'round. I enjoy using sketches. I had cut some chevron shapes with my Silhouette SD and never used them. So, today, I decided I would use them and the card came out pretty awesome! Check it!
